Yesterday was such a good day. I should have known it wouldn't last forever. Last night Jeremy and I did go out and get some Christmas decorations. He was such a good sport about going out after a long day at work. I still need to get a few more things but I have enough to start feeling a little holiday spirit. We were visiting my parents so we left Emily with them and took our time looking at different things. When we returned I realized that I forgot to get soda and Jeremy forgot his Cheezits. After an hour of debating whether or not we should go to the store again we ended up going shopping at 9 p.m. It kind of reminded me of the carefree evenings we used to have while dating.
Fast forward to this morning...ugh. We got home late last night so Emily didn't get put to bed until 10 p.m. I think she woke up really early this morning and just messed around then called for me at 7:00 a.m. The reason I think she was up earlier was she kept yawning all morning long. Normally, in this situation, I would just be really low key and let Emily relax the morning away until she could regroup. Unfortunately we had an evaluation appointment at the school district so I had to get Emily dressed and ready to go by 9 a.m. It was a very frustrating morning.
Emily pretty much did the opposite of everything I wanted her to do all morning long. Luckily we made it through the appointment ok. I'll be writing a whole other entry about Emily and her development later. Close to naptime Emily was vegging out on the couch and looked like she was about ready to fall asleep. I thought it would be a breeze to get her into her crib. Instead, she fought me tooth and nail. I ended up having to go to her room three times to get her to lay down and sleep. By the third time I lost my patience and left the room abruptly after scolding her for being so difficult. I felt like such a witch but maybe it's what Emily needed. Within 5 minutes of me leaving the room Emily was laying down and starting to fall asleep.
It's hard being the parent sometimes...
